Detecting a keypress or spoken word for transfer

I have a need to detect either a keypress (ideally '0') or spoken word (probably 'operator') and then transfer the call to a specific number to route the calling party to a live person to handle their call. I understand the way that the tropo scripting API handles the transfer itself, but I do not see any easy way to detect either of these inputs at any point within the call lifecycle. Does tropo offer a way to trigger a special function on keywords/dial sequences?
